Well you heard it right, and that’s not me saying this.
It’s Goldman Sachs, one of the largest investment banks in the world predicting the creator economy to reach a half-a-trillion dollar mark by 2027. And it’s just 3-4 years when you see this happening around you. Now, if you want to know about what I think, well the number might be an even larger number compared to what you see here in this report.
There is a reason you see Elon musk and mark Zuckerberg on podcasts, there is a reason you see powerful ministers and businessmen on podcasts. Some of them are even making their own version of it. There is a reason why you see celebrities making YouTube videos, and in case you missed it just scroll up.
The reason all this is happening because people are spending way more time on their screens than ever before, their attention is on the screen and this attention is also something people pay for.
Advertisement and marketing has always worked on attention, a creator getting a million views does not pay for those views and still makes returns, by endorsing someone’s brand or probably their own.
When you have zero cost (except for the making time and equipment) and you are still making money, you are practically generating infinite returns and that’s extremely lucrative as a business.
Well, you might be wondering at this point “Well that’s all great Yuvraj, but what do I do in this case. I don’t think I can be a creator.” The catch is that you do not have to be one.
So there’s always demand for people who can translate scripts into stories and stories have existed since the beginning of mankind.The way you do it by not changing “What?” is supposed to be said but “How?” is it supposed to be said. That’s where a video editor comes into the picture.
If you are a great video editor you can translate the most basic form of content into the most enticing piece of content that people just want to click and spend their time watching and you will get paid for this time and attention.
I started my career as a content writer and switched to video editing during the covid lockdown, that was also when I realised how people are more skewed towards videos rather than written content. After gaining the basic skillset I started working on a couple of projects and constantly up skilling myself.
Soon enough I got an opportunity to work with a client based out of USA and the pay was really good, soon after I landed another client.At this point I was making more money than what I was making as a content writer. This is just me working for the right opportunity at the right time and honestly you can do it too.
A combination of good video editing skill and knowing how to land clients can land to an amazing career opportunity and if you don’t know how to do both of these, you can learn.Learn from someone who has been in the industry for quite sometime now and someone who has done all of the above.
